One task down!

Yes, I've completed my before 2010 task! I'm not very satisfied with it cause I had a writer's block throughout writing for it. Some things that I drafted were not used and I don't know where to add. Just wanna get it done. Haha and I'm blogging right now cause I'm ahead of my video making schedule. Honestly.. the video.. I don't know whether it will turn out to be like what I have in my mind or not. *fingers crossed* Hopefully it turns out well.

Anyone heard of tumblr? The layout and everything looks so cool. It's something like twitter, but it's a blog. But too bad I'm not into micro blogging, if not I would have signed up for it. Haha yes,I have a lot to say.

I can't wait for tomorrow! Gonna try out some new burger restaurant tomorrow heee

Nothing is permanent but Change

There is a new virus T(3c1-1) that is constantly invading us. It's very hard to stop it once you caught it and everyday, more and more people are infected by it.

Signs of T(3c1-1)
Constantly wanting things to function to the maximum in the minimum possible time, in another words faster, more efficient, the shorter the better.

Symptoms of T(3c1-1)
Doubting the currency of newspapers, ranting about how slow your internet is, always wanting to tweet, check your mails every 10 minutes

Effects of T(3c1-1)
Once infected, a person will lose his patience, might become lazier and the worse of all, when a whole lot of people are infected, it will lead to the death of newspaper.

You must be wondering what am I talking about huh? It's about Technology and the future. In case you're wondering, T(3c1-1) comes from the word Tech, and I was the one who made that up.

Last semester, there was this discussion about newspaper and how long more will it last. I believe that newspaper will always exist and it's impossible for the interne to take over the papers. Why? Simple enough, in the world, there are more people without internet access compared to netizens.

But come to think of it.. It's just a matter of time. Newspaper circulation have been falling while conversely micro blogs like tumblr, twitters are emerging. Fast and efficient.. that's what people today wants. Newspapers are considered outdated compared to SMS alerts, twitters and more. If you want your news to be more detailed, you can even check out blogs.

Technology is not a living organism. But it slowly engulfs us into it, slowly taking over us. Even me myself have to carry my iTouch around so that I can tweet whenever I can access the wifi. And what do I tweet? The most mundane events of my life from the weather to what I had for lunch.

It's sad to see a tool for mundane events has the potential to take over newspapers. A friend suggested, death of newspaper = save more trees. Plus, newspapers are actually for advertisements, internet has lesser ads. Sounds quite positive, but how many jobs will be lost through 'Internetization'?

But you know what? Nothing is permanent but change. When the time comes, newspaper will have to go to somewhere that is better for it.

Funny Head Gear Day

Remember about one of my mission to be completed before this year is to join Blog a Trend? I don't think I'll be able to complete it by this year. This is because I'm planning to make a video and must finish it by January 1st. The last time it took me about 3 days to complete a 30 seconds video.. hopefully this video will take a shorter time la. I don't know whether I'll be blogging in the next 3 days or not.

So now, I have 2 blog post pending. One on blog a trend and the other one on Samsung Corby. Gotta get the video done soon so I can start typing it. I've been drafting it in my mind for days.

Anyway.. this morning, My sister and I went to IKEA. Our main aim is to check out the quilt and my sister wants to buy the Daim Almond cake for some pot luck party she's at right now. Last week or was it 2 weeks ago, I was checking IKEA's Xmas catalog and saw some really cute head gear/mask that I really want.

Music Monday #7

Music in games are of course important. The game would not be as exciting if it's muted as it stimulates the mood of the game. So today, instead of mainstream music,we're going for something different. If you look closely to the "I Follow" part, you'll realize I just added in 'Kawagen san' who I happened to stumble across on Twitter. Kawamoto san is a game music composer and is really generous in distributing his creations to his followers via twitter and Myspace. Check out his Myspace for some game music.

One song that I really like is the Nintendo tuned version of "Rond allla turka". This piece reminded me of my piano days about 10 years ago. I remember hearing either my sister playing to this song or it was a demo song programmed inside my piano.

I'm not sure whether that song can be found on his Myspace or not, but there are lots of other good music there too. I personally like Sonicscape the best. Other nice tracks which I like includes Northern Traveller, Wind Blows through the morning woods and Desert Rose.

I can imagine his music are being used in films like Baraka which never fails to impress me no matter how many times I watch the trailer. Can you believe it's made of time lapse photography?

Anyway~ feel free to check out Kawagen san's music ya!

Short but Sweet

Emily Tan and I officially turned 19.5 years old today. In 6 months time, we'll be in the 20's club. Time really really flies huh? Makes me wonder what I've been doing in these 19.5 years of my life.

Happy birthday, Taec! Will update more about that tomorrow. Today's short entry will be about Kristy and my dinner outing last Monday. Most of the photos are from Kristy's camera. So credits goes to her! All I took was some footage of sushi spinning around for my future time lapse project.

It's been 2 years since I last saw her. It doesn't really matter if our outing will be short,I must make time to meet her. It's not that I'm buzy or what

There was a human size Pirctureka too. I think the player is suppose to find the item that is printed on the flash cards. So Kristy suggested to do the "hmmm..where is it" face.

We had Ice cream after walking around. My Rum and Raisin and her Cotton candy. And, there's a reason why we pick Baskin Robins.

2 days after that, I had lunch and a short gathering with Clair. There's not much picture of the outing. I only took pictures of Italianese's complimentary bread which tasted really good. And there's also one picture of me with the traffic light that I really want. But I don't think it's for sale.

To the both of you, thanks for the gifts!

Have a good year ahead

Today was my final Japanese class in the year 2009. Before ending the class, Nishio sensei asked us "What should we say before the year ends?" or what is it "What should you say at the very end of the year?" I don't remember whats her question exactly, but you do get what I mean right? Being the silly me, I said er.. "Rainen mo yoroshiku onegaishimasu" (Please also take care(?) of me next year) and one of classmates said "osewa ni narimashita" (an expression used to thank someone for their help or favors done for you over a considerable period of time. Both of us are not exactly wrong, but the right word to say is Yoi otoshi wo! (Have a good year ahead). That's something new for me. Shall try to spot that word while watching Johnny's countdown or NHK's Kohaku Utagassen.

It's in the name pt4

This naming thing is endless eh? Don't worry, it will be a different approach this time.Today, it's about the Horvejkul brothers. And no, this is not a fortune telling corner.

Sorry, I couldn't find a proper pic of Nichchan, so there's double Nichkhun here.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The Horvejkul bros consists of Nichkhun,21 (pronounced as NI-KUN) and Nichchan,23 (I assume it's NI-CHAN?). So, what comes to your mind first when you saw their names? The first think that strikes me was "Do their parents speak Japanese?" Why is that so? you ask.

Let's drop both's 'nich' and take 'Khun' as 'kun'. So what do u get? Does 'kun' and 'chan' rings any bell? If you're thinking of Japanese honorific suffixes, then you're on the same page as me.

Kun (君, in Kanji, くん in Hiragana)is used by a senior person in addressing a younger male. For instance, a teacher usually addresses her student as xxx kun. However, in Johnny's I believe that the Jrs are told to address their seniors by kun. Let's take KinKi Kids and Hey!Say! JUMP as an example. The age difference between the oldest member of HSJ and KinKi Kids is 11 years and yet they have to call them Koichi kun, Tsuyoshi kun. Imagine Ryutaro calling Kimura Takuya as Kimura kun. It will be so awkward!
Besides that, kun can also be used by females when addressing a male that they are emotionally attached to or have known for long.

Chan (ちゃん) on the other hand is a more casual way of addressing someone. Thus, using chan with a superior's name would be condescending and rude. In general, chan is used for babies, young children, cute animals, lovers and close friends.

You know what? Nissan* should really seal a deal with the bros.

*san is pretty much like Mr./Mrs./Ms in English

Sense of Sight

Sighting #1 : 2 hummers in one week
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I saw 2 Hummers on the road in a week time. The first time was on last Saturday while I crossing the overhead bridge. The 2nd one was spotted on Monday around when I was on my way to One Utama. I guess they're probably the same Hummer. I know it's just a big, squarish, luxurious expensive car. But how often do you see a Hummer on road? I see that everyday on Sorrority Life Moreover in Malaysia where cars are dominated by Myvis.

Sighting #2: An emo needs 3 friends to cheer her up
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Recently, these Giordano Cheer U Up t-shirts are so popular that everywhere you go, you'll see people wearing it. I used to think it's kinda cute, but now, I think it's over rated. The other day, I was at Tropicana City Mall with my sister for lunch. I saw a bunch of middle school girls(?), 4 of them actually. 3 out of 4 girls wore this Cheer U Up t-shirt. And guess what the other girl wore? A t-shirt with the word EMO. In a nut shell, it takes 3 people to cheer an Emo up. In case you're wondering, the person in the picture is Jang Dong Gun.

Sighting #3: Meggings
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Before I go on, let me explain what are meggings. Meggings are actually leggings for men. According to Japan Probe, leggings for men (”meggings”) are this year’s hit fashion item for Japanese men in their 20’s and 30’s. The other day when I was at One Utama, I walked passed Crocodile and guess what I saw? Yellow Meggings?? I wanted to check it out but I was in a hurry..maybe next time. It's not something new in other countries but it's definitely fresh in Malaysia. I believe Tsuyoshi wore it during his ENDLICHERI days? So whats your verdict on Meggings? For me, I think it's acceptable. At least better than a certain footballer's Tight Trunks and Pink Flowers. But who am I to judge? As long as they're confident in what they wear, they can wear whatever they want. And I'll secretly laugh at them

Sighting #4 : Cool Cat Corner
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
This morning, while I was laying my breakfast on the dining table, I saw this black/grey thing moving outside of my house. I look at it again, but it's not there anymore. So, I thought it was my hair. The moment I turn and look at the tv hall's direction, I saw a stray cat sitting on my favorite scatter cushion!! Must be one smart cat..for picking the best cushion haha. I bet it has eaten lots of fish that contributes to it's grey matter. This cat is not one of the four cats behind my house. This is the 'front' cat that never fails to give me endless shock story that next time. I was so stunned and shocked and let out a scream and did the cat ran away? No, it walked out snobbishly slowly as if it's the King of the world.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I'm not much of an Xmas person, but.. I still wanna wish every The Rene Report readers out there though only a few readers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Hope that 2010 will be a better year for you guys and for me and have a blasting Christmas!

Random Xmas fact: Heard about it from the drama Bloody Monday and then Googled it

Thirteen days after Western Christmas, on January 7th, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates its Christmas, in accordance with the old Julian calendar. It's a day of both solemn ritual and joyous celebration. The Gregorian Calendar, (the one we're using) is 13 days in advance compared to the old Julian calendar.

Deja Vu

Today, I went to One Utama again and again and watched Avatar with my sister.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Throughout the show, it felt like I was having a Deja Vu. I've definitely seen this somewhere!! but I couldn't recall it. The storyline was a little predictable but overall it was certainly an epic adventure. The fighting/war part was the best part of the movie. The story was quite easy to understand too. But too bad some kid behind me wasn't paying attention I guess? At the climax part, he ask his friend, "Who is Ehwa?" Hello!! They have been mentioning about Ehwa so often in the movie!!

This Deja Vu thing really bothers me..so I indirectly made my sister name a couple of movies that may be similar to this. Narnia? Nope, I've never watch or read it. Atlantis? Nope.. definitely not. Reminded me of the super old Atlantis movie I saw in high school. Is it Pocahontas? YES YES!! Avatar is like the sci-fi with a dash of live action version of Pocahontas.

I'm a fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes of course I'm not gonna miss out the movie! Do you know Irene Adler is one of the most notable female characters in the Sherlock Holmes series, despite appearing in only one story. Yes, her wits outdo him.

Back to my One Utama outing.
After my movie, I met up with Clair for lunch. Zanmai was over packed, so the three of us head to Itallianese. While I was going down the escalator, a girl from the opposite direction yelled to me "MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEARRRRR!!!!" And as usual, I gave the What-are-u-doing stupid ah aka AB face. Haha Clair, thanks for the cool looking Taec shades and the wild bunny ears! and the calendar too hee will take a picture of it soon.

And thanks to Kristy too for the pack of Japanese Xmas snacks. It taste really really good! And the silly me forgot to take a pic of it!!!!!!! It's too late cause the glutton me and sister gulped down most of it and it won't look good if I take a pic now.

Thanks for asking about my leg. It still hurts but the "cracking" sound is not as loud as yesterday. Hope it gets better tomorrow.

101

I went to One Utama twice yesterday and will be going there again tomorrow. A little sick of that place Initially, the plan was my sister's hair cut and lunch. Then later on, Kristy asked me whether I'm free to meet up with her for Zanmai. It was quite sudden, but we manage to come up with a plan. It's been 2 years since I last saw her. The last time we met each other was 2007's Xmas at IKEA haha.

What we did in One U? I shall blog about it next January. Hehehehe

I think there's something wrong with my left femur. When I walk, I can feel it "cracking"? I can feel the joint capsule rubbing against the other bone and I can hear "cruck cruck"-ish sound. Can feel some pain too.why is this happening to me When I told my mum and sis, the first thing they said was dislocation. But I don't think so. Hope it gets better tomorrow la.

Music Monday #6

Hello! It's time for another Music Monday. This week, I'm introducing a song entitled "Ever So Lonely" by Sheila Chandra.

I first heard this song in my Asian Music lecture for India's Music. India music here is not only those that you heard from Bollywood films. run down some green land and dance with trees But those that uses traditional Indian musical instruments such as the Sitar, Veena,Venu.. and more. The sound of the sitar is really nice and I'm thinking to get one if I have the money This song got my attention because of the dance-able beat. I was imagining someone bboying to it.

About the singer:
Sheila Chandra is an English singer of Indian descent. Although she was heavily influenced by Western elements, she was trained to use traditional Indian instruments too according to my lecturer.

Some info from Youtube:
In 1981 Sheila Chandra met Steve Coe in London and became the lead singer of his Asian fusion band Monsoon which then signed to Polygram.
Monsoon had a UK Top Ten hit with their first single "Ever So Lonely" when Sheila was 16.
After Monsoon disbanded, Sheila signed Steve Coe's Indipop label in 1984 and went on to make her first four solo albums in two years.
Sheila retired when she was 20 to take a sabbatical that lasted 4 years and re-emerged with her fifth solo album on Indipop.

Next week's music will be something very different. It will be about game music! heee look forward to it ya

I'm an elite

Yesterday, I ended my post, saying that I'll story about my weird dream. I'm actually a little lazy haha but since there's nothing much to blog about today, I'll talk about it la.

Apparently in my dream, I'm some don't remember the name country's elite and was invited to dine with the King and His family in a restaurant. My tummy was upset so I can only eat mixed rice, take away specially for me from Koon Kee (some coffee shop near my house). Don't understand why can't they serve it on a plate for me but in polystyrene packs. And the dishes were exactly the same as what my dad had for lunch in real life.

Back to dream story.. I went to the wash room and when I came back, guess what happened? The King was murdered. And me, being the elite stood up like Kindaichi and said, "I will solve this case" So together with the Queen and Prince, we went and investigate. The first place we went was the next room in the restaurant. I don't know what is it but it seems like there's some sort of ritual going on? There's this really scary looking leader there..chanting I guess. I ask a couple of question and suddenly I'm in a train.

(Fast Forward...........)
I ask the prince something and he showed me chocolate filling bun. Immediately, I knew where is the murderer hiding. So we took the train back again and this time, we went to Atria (some mall near my house) and the murderer is disguising as a patissier making Siew Pau for one of the Chinese restaurant in Atria. When I saw him, I slapped him and then punch him Tokyo Dogs style. He manage to run into the lift and and... I woke up before catching him!!! Gees.. at least let me catch him or something.
--
Hmmm there were more events that took place in this dream. But I'm too lazy to find the right word to describe it. Shall write it out properly when I'm really free.
And I think unconsciously, I'm quite a narcissist? Last time, I dreamed that I was a queen and now an elite? Hahah and I think watching Tokyo Dogs did affect my dream..which kinda worries me cause I watched like 6 episodes of Criminal Minds this afternoon.

It's in the name pt3

When will this naming thing ever end? Haha remember I said that I wanna change Maki's name? It was decided that it's new name is でぶ (Debu, so that it will grow bigger. Just 3 days after that, Debu really did grew bigger!! Okay..maybe it's because it's at the growing age, but lets assume it's the naming thing ya? There are also lots of cat's dropping behind my house.. Please do it else where and don't make me rename you cats 'Benpi' (Constipation) ya!

On an unrelated note, I came across this Japanese cat blog just now. でぶねこ☆めんまさん (The fat cat- Menma san)So cuteeee!!
---
Last night, I was watching my weekly "1 Night 2Days" tv program. It's actually a Korean travel-variety program. This week, they went to Gangwon-do and visited an observatory there. In the observatory, they get to take a glimpse of the moon and a young star named Capella via the super canggig-manggih* telescope. The telescope was so huge/magnifying that they get to see the Moon's crater. I wanna take a look at the moon too! to find out whether it's cheese like I wonder do we have the chance to take a look at the moon at the National Observatory in Langkawi?
*canggih means advance in English
I wanted to sms Kristy at that time, but I can't remember where did I misplace my mobile phone. I keep misplacing things lately especially my phone Repeats are on Sunday 5.20PM, KBS world (Channel 303 on Astro)

Oh ya.. I was woken up by this really strange dream. Shall story it tomorrow!

And I'm so sick of...

I hope I'll 'get well soon' and bake something before New Year haha someone's birthday! Maybe I should bake cookies instead haha.

Smoking is Dangerous To Us

Smoking is Dangerous to Us (OT: Santa claus is coming to town)
You better watch out
You better not smoke
You beter not try
coz i'm telling you why
Smoking is dangerous to us

I'm singing a song
Making it clear
Telling you smoking makes you blur
Smoking is dangerous to us

It kills you when you're sleeping
It kills you when you're awake
It kills you although you've been bad or good
So dont smoke for goodness sake

SO~
You better watch out
You better not smoke
You better not try
Coz i'm telling you why
Smoking is dangerous for us!

Credits to Clair and Me for the lyrics

Some months ago, Clair asked me, "Why do people smoke?" I answered her, "It makes them feel happy?" I think she wasn't really convinced with that answer so I gave her an example which I think why people smokes. "Think of a food that you'll feel happy and satisfied after eating it" And she replied, "Zanmai's Tamago mentai sushi". Everyone I know who frequents Sushi Zanmai loves that sushi!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Sushi Zanmai's Yaki Tamago Mentai Sushi

So that day onwards, I use the term 'smoke' when I'm talking to my sister or Clair about this sushi. "Eh, I feel like smoking" , "I'm gonna smoke later",etc etc..

Why do people smoke? I don't know the answer as I don't smoke. But I guess it's not right to judge a person's character by seeing whether they smoke or not. coughs Ko chan coughs My grandma smokes a lot, but she's a nice lady.

It's in the name pt2

Remember one of old entry about why naming is important? Today, the stray cats behind my house once again proved that to me. After writing up that previous post, my sister and I decided to change JiHoo's name to the almighty me Jun Pyo. And this morning, when my sister fed them some sausage, Tatsu the dragon and Jun Pyo fought rushed to it, leaving poor Maki behind. It's really really weird to see 'Jun Pyo' behaving like that. Usually it's the most passive out of all 3 and will run away whenever something was thrown near them. The Name power? or maybe it's just hungry So I'm thinking to give Maki another name. Any suggestions? Anything but not Tiger/ Lao Hu/ Harimau/ Tora or anything along that line please. Look at Tiger Woods, totally living up to his name

I went to Tropicana Mall for lunch today. Had Kenny Rogers Roasters and I'm quite positive that there might not be any next visit. I was quite disappointed with the chicken and Nando's was wayyyyyyyy better. Of course it's not as healthy as KRR.. but the taste is just so different from what I remembered. Sighhhh healthier food = not so tasty food??

Anyway..it's been 100 days since Jay left. At the same time, videos of him and his crew battling surfaced on YouTube. Glad to see him doing his thang with his homies in Seattle. His crew (Art of Movement) even won first place in a bboying competition.

All I want for Christmas is...

Sorry for not updating over the weekend. I was really occupied with my video which turns out to be quite disappointing? I only like my intro part.. and the content is very different from what I visualized so won't be posting it up here haha. I should have a better plan next time.

Anyway.. what do I want for Xmas? Some of my friends have been telling me that they're having problems when it comes to buying gifts for me whether it's Xmas or Birthday. Their reason is I have everything. Which I think is quite true. I have everything that is necessary for me to live on. and a whole lotta junk at home And things on wish list? It doesn't really matter whether I have it or not. But who doesn't like icing on their cake? I'm greedy haha

Thats about it I guess? I don't really make wish lists, so it's hard for me to compile what I really want. Shall edit if I can think of anything.

Music Monday #5

Hello! It's another Music Monday. Week 5's Song of the week is Secret Code by KinKi Kids.

About the song:
Released on the 27th of August 2008, this song was the theme song for the drama "33pun Tantei". If to classfy it's genre, it would be Jazz music. More specifically swing music which originates from Ragtime. Brass instruments are very distinct in this song.I don't know how to describe this but KinKi Kids' songs have one kind of sound(?) in their songs but "Secret Code" doesn't have that 'sound' and is very different. That's why it's one of my favorite song all time. And the best thing is.. Neway Karaoke has it! hahaha

About the singer:
Do I need to explain more? KinKi Kids, they're my favorite hahaha. And because of that, I'll upload a picture of them here.

The Magnae Rebellion

In the Korean language, the term "magnae" is used to refer to the youngest member of a group. In most Asian culture where individualization is not as huge as the Western culture, the magnaes are usually the one being bullied by the elders. Because they're the youngest, they cannot go against their seniors or else it will make them look rude. The magnaes are also always the one who gets all the bad things.

I was watching this reality tv called "Idol Magnae Rebellion" and found out that these magnaes were terribly "abused" by their seniors. Especially poor 2AM Jin Woon whose hyung* is a fan of boxing. And whenever his hyung watches boxing, he have to be next to him. And out of no where, a high kick will be flying to him. And if he refuse to sit next to him, his hyung will threaten him "Don't ever talk to me anymore"
(*Hyung is used by Korean guys to refer to guys older than them)

In a way, it's quite true. Cause my high school friends always make Kim, who is a year younger than us, do things for us.The other day, Estee and I make her ask the Kopitiam guy whether they have durian cake or not. we were too embarrassed to ask Sorry Kim! you're the youngest

But it's not always true. If you have a passive leader and a do-S magnae like MatsuJun or an Italian face like Chan Sung, or an AB face like me you'll probably overpower your seniors. Haha like me, I think I bully more people older than me than people older than me bullies me. The one living with me is probably the biggest victim, followed by Clair and sometimes but not so much, Kristy.
