Color Me Corby

I really really like the color black. Chinese New Year, Birthday, Wedding, Xmas, whatever the occasion is, I wear black all year round. Until my amigos, Kim and Ashton gave me an afro ken plush toy on my 19th birthday last June. Afro ken is a Japanese character created by San X. 'Ken' means dog in Japanese and it's a dog with a fro, a colorful fro!

Thanks to little afrey, I started experimenting with colorful clothes.

Check out afrey's fro color and my top's color. Samsung Corby offers pretty much the same color too!

Plob, plob, fizz, fizz, Oh, what a corby it is!

After checking out some Corby ads on Youtube, I decided to give Gingy, a taste of Corby.

This is Gingy..with that annoying smile that I really really dislike.

But since Afrey brought me colors, I decided to be giving and gave Gingy a cupid pink off shoulder dress 2010's Spring-Summer must have item

And now Gingy looks so much more cuter. No more annoying smile haha

And The cookie that think that it’s a corby became bffs with not only afreey but also my favorite Jamaican yellow Rilakkuma. So cute right? heee

Anyone out there wanna have the same experience as Gingy? Check out Nuffnang x Samsung's Corby Carnival!

Caught Red Handed

Haha..I wanted to blog about this last night, but totally KO-ed and ended up sleeping. I've been running up and down a lot these day and its really really tiring. Old age is catching up with me.

Anyway.. I've been pretty lucky lately. Yesterday, I've received an e-mail from Ryan, who operates Caught*Red-handed. I was informed that I just won a copy of 'Shogun' by James Clavell. When I saw the mail, I was smiling crazily to the computer screen. I'm really really happy =). Honestly it felt way better than winning Akanishi Jin's autograph last May. maybe it's because I don't like Jin as much as others Can't believe that I'm choosing books over KAT-TUN? haha

If you're interested in the Japanese language or the country itself, or you enjoy reading something interesting, feel free to check out caught*red-handed.

Talking about luck, this afternoon,I receive an email from Suanie.net, saying that I just won a pair of tickets to catch Feng Shui master, Joey Yap, in action. It was really unexpected.. in fact, I've totally forgotten about it. Too bad my family had some very sudden big plan next Saturday so my parents can't make it for the Feng Shui & Astrology for 2010 seminar. I had to give up the tickets.

Good things come to you when u least expects it huh?

I really really need to start writing on my Corby entry! it's due this coming Sunday

Bouken rider?

I made a trip to KL yesterday! Not to eat or shop but to accompany my sister for her job interview. Around noon, we hope into the LRT (Light Rail Transit) with a ticket to Masjid Jamek, which I think is the richest place in Malaysia literally. Ok, not really rich as in rich people hang out there but that place definitely have some good Fengshui for banks. Almost every big banks in Malaysia's HQ are located there.

Masjid Jamek or in English, the Jamek Mosque is one of the oldest mosque in KL. But, I don't remember seeing any mosque around.. only sky scrappers. Maybe it's located at the other side hmmm..

Talking about sides.. I wanted to take photographs on the LRT, but my sister chose to sit at the other side which faces the rail tracks for LRTs coming from the opposite direction and there was quite a crowd in the LRT, so I couldn't navigate around freely too.

This is not my first time visiting Masjid Jamek, but it's my first time exploring that area. Like I misat area are mainly white-collar worker, all dressed up formally which makes me look really casual haha. There were a couple of lost looking tourist there. I wanted to help them, but I'm pretty clueless about KL myself heh.

I was suppose to wait for my sister a cafe outside of OCBC bank but I didn't want to sit down and do nothing so I wandered around alone for an hour.I have no sense of direction so I just kept walking the same street again and again with my camera.

Music Monday #8

It's the very first Music Monday of 2010! I know it's Tuesday already but it's still Monday in Seattle Sorry that this week's Music Monday came late cause I was really tired yesterday. Will update about my yesterday later ya.

Like I said, I was really tired yesterday. So I ended up watching FNS Song festival on my bed and thanks to that, I found some really nice song to share. There were 3 songs in my mind but I chose Fuyu ga hajimaru yo (Winter Has Begun) because Winter dramas are taking over my computer soon!

'Fuyu ga hajimaru yo' is sung by Makihara Noriyuki. Ring any bells? He was the one who wrote the ever famous SMAP's anthem 'Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana'. He is ranked at No.84, in a list of Japan's top 100 musicians, provided by HMV. You can read more about him here. I think this song is really cute, especially the lyrics. I can't find a translation of it right now, but will edit it once I come across any or I'll just copy it from the video I downloaded.

Here's the original 1991 released version of the song

If you think that the sound is a little too old school,or u prefer something Jazzy, check out Arashi's collab with Makihara san.

Don't you think Arashi did a great job performing that song?

Or, if you prefer something more acoustic or a female vocalist, check out Every Little Thing's version here.

Hatachi

Yesterday, my Japanese teacher asked the class "Kotoshi no mokuhyou wa?" (What's your aim this year?) Oh crapppp.. I hate questions like that. I'm hopeless So I gave that answer every student will give. "Daigaku no shiken de, 75 ten ijou wo mezashite" (75 and above for university exams) Which... honestly is a little too high for me. Should have just said 70 haha. Out of 8 subjects in my first year, I only had 3 distinctions. Haha so 70 and above will be my super big aim for 2010 and 2011.

When I came home from my class, I began thinking of some smaller aims that I should set for myself.

1.Keep my hair long
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Honestly, I'm very unsure of this. The last time I had long hair was like 14/15 years ago! I've not been visiting the hair saloon for 4 months already!! One reason is I'm on my super long semester break and I'm at home most of the time. whatever happened to the part time job And the saloon that I frequent has increased their price. My usual hair cut price has gone up by 16%! I usually cut my hair every 2 months as suggested by Readers Digest but I realize as long as I befriend the hair dryer, it will be okay.

2. Cut down on Tomato sauce or any other sauce
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I loveeee Tomato sauce so much that I 'tsunami' my food especially french fries with tomato sauce. I just like my food to be covered with sauce cause it tastier. As I know, the sugar content in tomato sauce or any other sauce is not low. Sighhhh.. do you know sugar makes u age? If I can kick out soda drink out of my drinking habit, I can cut down on sauces too right? Looks like I won't be saying "more chilli sauce please!" to the subway guy.

3.Save Money
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
The good news which I don't think is good..it's torturing is I did not spend a lot of money on my Johnny's fandom last year. Just a couple of bucks to call in and win Akanishi Jin's autograph I should be able to save quite a lot of money right? I thought so too.. BUT, I've spent most of it on food. You see, I really really hate dislike driving, so to bribe my sister to drive, I have to pay for her lunch and it's not cheap. I remember telling myself that I'll step into the Land of the Rising Sun before 20. I'm turning 20 this June, still broke and no sight of Japan plan this year. To go to Japan, I need money. And I feel really really bad whenever I ask for money from my parents. So I was thinking I should get a part time job in Monash when I start my class. It's quite convenient. And I should sell off some 'precious junk' as well. I'm gonna put ALL of my Chinese New Year angpau money (Otoshidama) into the bank! And..I want a new camera too.

4.Go out and take some photos!
Photobucket
I've always like photography but never really took it seriously. I should go out and take photos more often and not only photos on what I eat or myself. I'm sure you readers are sick of my face. And I really need to learn some new camera tricks haha. Can't be using the same ol tricks all the time. Time to use my fish eye jelly lenses! and hopefully my future time lapse videos will get better and better =)

5. Don't show that 'I'm not interested' face so often
Photobucket
I need to stop being so anti social. Somebody, get me the "I hate people" book please! I really really should go out and not spend most of my time in front of that squarish machine. Even my parents are more happening than me. And I really need to cut down on ranting and whining gossiping about others

6. Lastly.. EXERCISE!
Photobucket
Wii Fit or real exercise.. I really need it. My back and leg have been telling me that I lack of exercise. I remember checking my body age(?) on the Wii Fit and its even older than my parents!! I am the 'oldest' in my family according to Wii Fit. I should be the youngest!! Its been 2 years since I hold on my tennis racket. Looks like its time for some tennis action.

As for my aim tomorrow.. start writing for my corby post!

What are your 2010 aims?

nom nom..lets have some snacks!

Japanese snacks have been making an impact in the Malaysian market lately. Specialty stores have been mushrooming in malls and you no longer need to travel all the way to Isetan to buy your favorite overcharged Japanese snacks or wait for the Jusco Japanese Food Festival.

Japanese are very creative with their snacks. They come up with new flavors that I've never seen before. However, although I'm a frequent Japanese snack-er, I find myself buying the same flavor/type of snacks again and again. For instance, I always wanted to try the Banana flavored Morinaga caramel sweets, but I always end up with the black sugar flavored because I think it's safer. I mean banana and caramel or black sugar and caramel. Which one will probably taste better? I'm really worried that I might not enjoy the taste and end up regretting it and by the end of the day, wasting it.

Yes, I do love Japanese snacks. But another reason for me to consume it is because of their endorsers.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Should I go for Morinaga DARS dark chocolate instead of Meiji Black just because KinKi Kids had DARS commercial about 10 years ago

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
or should I go for Lotte Plus X because of the fun looking commercial that featured KAT-TUN or Meiji's Xylish because Kimura Takuya spells cool. Or sometimes, you're amazed by the variety of flavors available for Pocky and just don't know which one is goes well with your cup of coffee.

How how how? Which one to get? Furthermore, Japanese snacks are not cheap over here. And you can't be buying too many of it or you'll end up getting sick of it.

If you're as indecisive as me, worry no more! Japanese Snack Reviews is here to save your day. Check out their huge archives. From chocolates to umai bo.. any Japanese snacks, you name it and they have it. The Sumo rating system will definitely help you in deciding which snack to get. In my case, I wasn't too sure about Crunky at first. But after reading the Crunky review, I was pretty sure that I'm gonna like it and I was so wrong.. I love it!

When your there, check out the Variety Friday section too. Some really cool food that you'll never find it over here were featured and it never fails to make my tummy go 'peko peko'.

Recently, they're having a contest and the prize is a cool looking Kit Kat Gokaku Mug.

Isn't Kit Kat everyone's all time favorite break time snack? If only they have other Kit Kat flavors in Malaysia besides Milk and White chocolate. Curious about other flavors of Kit Kat? Check out the Kit Kat section of Japanese Snack Reviews! Not only you get to find your right snack, you get to learn about other snacks as well.

Koichi, happy birthday! Please drink more water.. cause your skin looks really dry when they shoot a close up of u. Use face mask, it's really good. And I'm still not convinced that ur hair is real.

And I made a time lapse video in conjunction of Koichi's birthday

A very last minute video.. so pleaseeeee excuse the lousy work. My timing was really bad and tripod wasn't exactly helpful.

and happy new year to all! May 2010 be a blasting and better year for you. =)
