The Complexities of Sexual Identities

Anyway, check this news out. It's basically about the new world 800m champion Caster Semenya has been asked to undergo gender tests just because she clocked in a time faster than any other female athletes and she appears to look a little masculine. It's not that recent (About 2 weeks ago) but I find it really interesting.

What do you think? It's my first time seeing a lady having six packs and well shaped biceps. But that doesn't mean that she's a man right? What is more disappointing is the remarks made by other female athletes. Oh.. where is the sportsmanship? Sporting la sikit. It would be a total different story if she's running for the States

THIS article here addresses the complexities of sexual identities.

Anyway.. here's a quote from one of my Journalism classmate regarding this issue
I have to admit her picture looks pretty manly, but so what. Its all a bit silly really, imagine the embarrassment Caster Semenya would have to face because of this. Marion Jones was insanely fast and built, and she was a woman, and no one questioned it. I think this whole thing is a location issue, if she was running for a country like the US, boom, she'd be the next biggest thing. But since she's not, everyone is making a big fuss. True, Marion Jones looks a lot "better" than Caster Semenya, but honestly, take a look at some female body builders, they are way buffer than she is. So yea, just because she's bigger and faster than most women, does not automatically make her a man, I could not stop laughing as I read this article, and the use of humor was very intelligent, as it makes the whole issue seem ridiculous.

Sorry that I'm lazy to upload pictures to make this entry more interesting! Some other time kayyyyy
